Born to the union of Tishie Futtrell and Pearl Massey in Lindsay, Oklahoma. She was the 6th of 9 kids. The family located to Exeter, California prior to World War II. Ruth married Byron Ivin McAtee in Exeter in June of 1946. He was an Army buddy of her older brother. They were the parents to three girls, Sheila Mary, twins, Maurita Fuzzy and Maurine Willie. They moved often as Bryon was employed as a Superintendent in Construction. They live in Alberta, Canada, Fullerton, Visalia and Tulare when the girls were growing up. In the summer of 1968, they moved to Anchorage, Alaska where the twins graduated from high School. They stayed until 1971 and came back to California and Byron worked on a project a Paso Robles and then retired. The sold everything and moved into a 5th wheel and toured the country and finally made their last stop in Sparks, Nevada where two of their girls were living. After Byron died suddenly, Ruth stayed with her oldest daughter and spent her retirement years traveling between Sparks, California and Texas. She passed away three weeks after her 80th birthday and was cremated an her cremains were spread in Sparks.

She was well loved by all in both sides of the family. Her house was always the home to extended cousins and her mother Tissie. She loved traveling and she loved to gamble, she was quite good at it. She was devoted to her younger sisters, Lena and Juanita.
