Freedom – The funeral for Chester R. "Pete" Bliss, 77, will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the Freedom School Auditorium, with the Rev. Frank Mitchell, pastor of Freedom United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, Kansas. Arrangements are by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva, Oklahoma.
He was born May 5, 1916, at Lookout Oklahoma and died Friday, April 15, 1994, at his home. He attended the Mound Ridge Rural Grade School and helped his father on the ranch. He married Edna V. Kimery September 6, 1974 at Alva, Oklahoma. Following the marriage, they continued to live on the ranch. She preceded him in death October 1, 1987.
Surviving are five sisters, Viola Davidson of Eureka, Kansas, Ethel Bennett of Coldwater, Kansas, Harriett Markham of Ashland, Oregon, Irene Welty and Betty Hoffman, both of Freedom, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Memorials may be made to the Freedom Fire Department, Freedom Ambulance or the Freedom Museum.
