Odis V. Brooks, 92, of Aberdeen, MD passed away Saturday morning at Citizens Care & Rehabilitation Center of Havre de Grace, MD. He was the husband of Lillian M. Brooks. Odis was born in Sparta, NC on February 23, 1926 to Andrew A. & Carrie E. (Williams) Brooks.
Mr. Brooks served in the U.S. Army in Japan during World War II. After moving to Harford County, Mr. Brooks worked at Martin Marieta in Baltimore County, and Bata Shoe Company in Aberdeen, MD. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic at Aberdeen Proving Ground. He attended Oak Grove Baptist church for 35 years.
Being gifted in carpentry, Mr. Brooks used his skills to build his own home and motor home. He played the banjo and appreciated blue grass music.
Odis is survived by his wife, Lillian M. Brooks of Aberdeen; daughter Judith E. Stout and husband David of Aberdeen; Douglas V. Brooks and wife Jane of Aberdeen; son, Dennis R. Brooks of Holtwood, PA and daughter Dorinda F. Brooks of Aberdeen. Also surviving is a sister, Lois Brooks of Sparta, NC, and seven grandchildren: Trina, Ansel and husband Mike, Rebecca Stewart and husband Michael, Drew, Kevin, Sheri Lynn, Colin and Summer Brooks.
A visitation will be held for Mr. Brooks at the Tarring-Cargo Funeral Home on Thursday, October 25 from 9-10 am, followed immediately by a funeral service at 10 am. Interment will follow the service at Harford Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen, MD.
