James R. Harrison, Jr., age 61, Elizabethton died Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a brief illness. He was a native of Carter County and a son of the late James R. Harrison, Sr. and the late Alma Florence Duncan Harrison. Mr. Harrison was of the Christian faith and retired from PSG. He served in the Vietnam Conflict with the US Army.
Mr. Harrison is survived by his fiancé, Muriel Henson, Elizabethton, three daughters and one son-in-law, Amy and Joe Hood, FL, Jamie Harrison, Jonesborough, Jessica Harrison, Elizabethton, five grandchildren: Cody Crow, Kayla Crow and Kevin Crow, all of Elizabethton, Haley Harrison, Jonesborough, Brendan Harrison, Elizabethton, two sisters and one brother-in-law, Suzann Eldridge, Brenda and Joe Brown, all of Elizabethton and special friend, Tom Markland, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Harrison will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 13 in the Tetrick Funeral Home Riverside Chapel with Mr. H. Clay Bailey, minister officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel prior to the service. Friends may also call at the home of his daughter, Jamie, at 118 Leach Circle, Jonesborough at other times.
The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, May 14 in Mountain Home National Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post No. 2166. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearer will be Tom Markland.
