Dr. Raymond E. Lindsey

DOTHAN. . .Dr. Raymond E. Lindsey, a resident of Dothan, died Saturday morning, October 27, 2018, at his home. He was 91.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:45 P.M. Saturday, November 10, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Dothan with Dr. Johnny Fain and Reverend Bob Gross officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be at 2:00 P.M. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Dothan “Mission Fund”, 300 West Main Street, Dothan, AL 36301.

Dr. Lindsey was born and reared in Warren County, Kentucky, son of the late John LaRue Lindsey and Gertrude Allen Lindsey. At an early age, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy serving during World War II. In 1953, he was drafted into the U. S. Army serving during the Korean War.

Dr. Lindsey graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport, Iowa, practicing from 1950 until 2004 in the office of Lindsey Chiropractic Clinic/Dothan Chiropractic Clinic. He formerly served as President of the Alabama State Chiropractic Association, President of the Alabama State Chiropractic Board of Examiners, and served in many other capacities with the Alabama Chiropractic Association. He also served as President of the Dothan Lions Club and as Chairman of the National Peanut Festival Parade for six years. Dr. Lindsey was an active member of the First Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and was involved in most church activities and missions.

Dr. Lindsey was preceded in death by a daughter, LeaKaye Lindsey Perry; a grandson, Madison Allen Lindsey; three sisters, and four brothers.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Barbara Nowell Lindsey of 61 years; son, Marvin Allen Lindsey (Marsha), Dothan; daughter, Linda Lindsey Harris (Jason), Venus, TX; sister-in-law, Shirley Lindsey, Bowling Green, KY; two brothers, John Lindsey and Rodger Lindsey, both of Kentucky; grandchildren, Rebecca Watts (Garreth), Kristi Johnson (Matt), Mattea Lindsey, Stephanie Spurlock Miller, Lindsey Spurlock Forrest, Emily Perry, and Sarah Perry; seven special great-grandchildren; several loving nieces and nephews.

We wish to thank all Kindred Hospice staff and his personal aids, Sue Waln, Marilyn McCray, and Alecia McCray for their kind and loving service.
