BIOGRAPHY
Paul was born March 5, 1948, in El Paso, Texas the son of William and Cecile Larremore. He was the second child of five children. The family moved to Odessa in 1957 from El Paso before Paul started the fifth grade. Paul attended Burnet Elementary, Hood Junior High School and Permian High School. He was in his senior year at Permian when he dropped out to join the Navy. He is, however, listed as a member of the Class of 66. While in the Navy, he completed his GED.
Paul served two previous tours in Vietnam as a crew member of a Patrol River Boat (PBR). He married Linda Pollard of Odessa in the summer of 67 after his second tour in Vietnam. He was completing his third tour in Vietnam and had already volunteered for a fourth, believing he was fighting for the people of South Vietnam. He wrote home that on the occasion he had an old man who needed shoes, so he gave him his second military pair.
Paul was a ordinance and weapons specialist. He was assigned to a Construction Battalion (CB's) during his last tour and repaired small arms for the marines. While awaiting transportation to return home at the end of his tour a marine unit was short one man for a night patrol and Paul volunteered. He was killed on that patrol. He had been telling his family to expect him home any day.
Paul was survived by his parents; his wife; his older brother, Jay Arthur; his younger sister, Jerylyn; his younger brother, Terrell Wayne; and his youngest sister, , Helen. His father has since passed away; his mother lives in Odessa; his brother, Jay lives in Nacogdoches, Texas; his sisters Jeryl Lynn and Helen Haytor and his brother Terry live in Odessa.
