BLANCHARD, Lawrence Ambrose – 89, Springhaven, Yarmouth County, passed away on February 24, 2009, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of Albanie and Esther (Morris). He served with the Canadian Air Force, and was a veteran of the second World War. He was employed as a carpenter and construction foreman in Labrador and Nova Scotia. Ambrose was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Albert Lemenager Council 8988, Tusket, and he was involved with Le Club Acadien and St. Agnes Church. He enjoyed hunting and spending time in the woods. He cherished time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and spent his entire life taking care of his family. He is survived by his children, Neil (Marion), Springhaven; Joan (Bob Beairsto), Lower Sackville; Nancy (Edgar d’Entremont), Gavelton; Phillip, Springhaven; Ruth (Bob LeBlanc), Springhaven; Gary (Noeda), Ronnie (Anne), both of Prince George, BC; Robert (Helen), White’s Lake; Judy (Lawrence Roberts), Kemptville; James (Cynthia), Calgary, AB; Rose (Bruce Wade), Sprighaven; Wayne, Plymouth; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, Nelson (Georgina), Quinan; Maurice (Agnes), Springhaven; sisters, Jeanette Mychailuk, Hamilton; Loretta Muise, Quinan; Celeste, Yarmouth. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Elise; brothers, Phillip, Raymond and Edward; a sister, Little Loretta; a grandson, Nevin. Visitation took place from 7-9 Thursday, with prayers at 8 PM, both in H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held at 10:30 AM, Friday, February 27 from Saint Agnes Catholic Church, Quinan, Father Gregory Sampson officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. It was requested that there be family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Saint Agnes Church, cemetery fund or to a charity of your choice.
