Mary Ellen Kean December 4, 1917-October 27, 2018 Mary Ellen Kean, 100, of State College, died Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Greenhills Village. Born December 4, 1917, in Pennsylvania Furnace, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Margaret Calvert Homan. On September 5, 1946 she married GlennR.Kean, who preceded her in death. Mary is survived by son John Kean and his wife Mary Lou of Bexley, Ohio, granddaughter Connie Phillips of Rockville, Maryland. She is also survived by brother S. Elwood Homan of Pennsylvania Furnace. Additionally, Mary is survived by five grandchildren, Eric Kean, Kathryn Kean, Kristin Koppany, Stephen Phillips, Kelly Bishop; and two great-grandchildren, Griffin Kean Bishop and Paxton Hunter Phillips. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, F. Earl Homan. She was a 1935 graduate of State College Area High School. Mary was Methodist by faith. She was an eighty year member of the Eastern Star and of the Baileyville Grange. Mary was farm grown, baker and cook extraordinaire, fisherman and lover of all things nature, a scientist and student at heart, gentle yet fiery, and one of the most beautiful and pure souls to grace this Earth. We share our grievances with all of you who knew and loved her as well. Visitation will take place 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College. Funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Koch Funeral Home with Mr. Bob White officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
