Laura Belle Arkward, 97, of Waynesboro, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018, at Curis in Waynesboro. She was born on September 6, 1921, in Waynesboro, Virginia, to the late John and Dora (Peters) Arkward.

She was employed by the former General Wayne Motor Inn and Lodge. She was a lifetime member and Mother of St. James Baptist Church and also a member of the Christian Woman Fellowship Ministry.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; and one son-in-law, John William Eaves.

She is survived by one daughter, Marva Eaves; one son, Kenneth "Butch" Arkward Sr. (Brenda); seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Special thank you to the staff of Curis at Waynesboro for the care they provided.

A funeral service will be conducted at 12 p.m., Friday, November 2, 2018, at St. James Baptist Church. Interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery. A public viewing will be one hour prior to the service at the church. The family will receive friends at the son's residence, 1855 W. Main Street, Waynesboro. Professional services provided by McCutcheon's Funeral Home (540)943-6938.
