SAUK RAPIDS - Helen Winkelman, age 82, of Sauk Rapids, died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at St. Cloud Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Duelm. The Rev. Bernard Kahlhamer will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Foley Funeral Home in Foley and one hour prior to the service at the church. Parish prayers will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Arrangements were made by the Foley Funeral Home.

Helen Winkelman was born May 10, 1924, in St. Cloud, Minn., to John M. and Frances (Kampa) Jurek. She married Donald Winkelman on Sept. 22, 1942, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Duelm. She had lived all of her life in St. George Township, rural Benton County. She was helpful in the early years of Winkelman Enterprises and also worked at her daughter's Bridal Outlet Store in St. Cloud for several years. Helen was active in the Duelm 4-H; Foley Lioness Club; the Elks Club; enjoyed playing cards and was a great cook. She loved the spring time and watching and feeding birds. She traveled with Donald and liked playing cards and going to the casino. Helen was especially fond of her dog, "Buck." She was a member of the St. Lawrence Christian Mothers and a life member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, Donald, Sauk Rapids; sons and daughters, Marilyn (Bill) Eichler, Sauk Rapids, Dennis John, Sauk Rapids, Donald "Babe" (Christeen), Brainerd, David (Michelle), Brainerd, Linda (Dave) Shay, Albany, Arnold (Barbara), Foley; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Roy, Foley; and a sister, Lorraine Hamel, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers and sisters, Thomas, John, Edward, George, Emma Sobania, Irene Carey, Ethel, Felix, Ervin and Richard.
