Italian writer and poetess. She wrote poems and novels under the pseudonym "Contessa Lara." She was the daughter of the Scottish teacher Guglielmo Cattermole and his wife Elisa Sandusch. She married Francesco Eugenio Mancini in 1871, but had an extramarital affair with the Venetian boy Giuseppe Bennati Baylon. Her husband killed her lover, and they separated. She then had a relationship with Giuseppe Pierantoni, a painter from Naples, but one day, after a quarrell, Pierantoni shot and killed her. Evelina was buried in a mass grave at Verano Cemetery in Rome, because no one paid for a burial.
