BIOGRAPHY

Eddie Dean Hollandsworth was raised in Howard County. He was the son of Ed and Gladys Hollandsworth of Big Spring. He was a twin to Jimmy. He attended schools in Flower Grove and Big Spring. He was a 1965 graduate of Flower Grove High school. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in November 1965. He completed basic training at Fort Bliss, Texas and infantry AIT training at Fort Benning, Georgia.

He began his tour in Vietnam on July 7, 1966. He was assigned to Company D, 1st Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, First Cavalry Division. He was killed by small arms fire December 17, 1966 during a vicious battle near Bong Son in the Binh Dinh Province. Twenty-nine soldiers, seventeen of Company D which included Eddie died that day.

He was buried with full military honors in the Trinity Memorial Cemetery in Big Spring, Texas. He was survived by his parents, his twin brother, Jimmy, brothers Tommy and Kenneth, sisters-Gale, Betty Sue and Mary Virginia.

His name is on the Wall at Panel 13E Line 050.
