Susan Isabelle Hill Kasson
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
August 2, 1945 - March 7, 2018

Susan, 72, passed away March 7, 2018, after a severe case of pneumonia.

Born in Pendleton, Oregon to Jim and Gertrude Hill. Susan graduated from Pendleton High School in 1963, attended Whitman college class of 1967 in Walla Walla, Wash., and was an English major, Delta Gamma and honor student. Susan went on to be an active alumni for many years.

After college, Susan was the book department manager for the downtown location of J.K. Gill's from 1970 to 1975.

In 1976 Susan meet and fell in love with Richard Kasson. They married in 1976 and had their one and only daughter, Hillary in 1979.

The Kasson family lived in Pendleton and then in Tigard, where Susan was a devoted wife and mother. Susan balanced motherhood, caring for ageing parents, part time employment and enjoyed volunteer work with the PTA, the Tigard library and the Tigard city council.

In 1990, Susan became the office manager for her husband's law firm, Kasson and Associates. Sue's compassion towards clients as well as her superior organizational skills were the backbone of the firm until Richard's retirement in 2011.

After retiring from the law firm, Sue spent most of her time as the "bakery mom" at her daughter and son-in-law's bakery, Waves of Grain Bakery in Cannon Beach. The value that Sue added to both family businesses is immeasurable. Surely, neither would have been as successful without Susie.

In 2011 Sue lost her husband and best friend, Richard after 35 of marriage, followed by happier times in 2012 and 2015 with the birth of her grandsons.

In Susan's retirement, she was able to enjoy what she loved most, family, friends, traveling and time for lots of good books.

Immediate family left behind are Susan's daughter, Hillary Fargo; son-in-law, Jason Fargo; and two grandsons; brother, Tim Hill and family in Astoria; Fritz Hill and family in Pendleton; and her beloved 19 year old cat, Puff.

An informal gathering will be held in the spring, TBA.

Those who would like to honor Susan should hand out extra compliments, treat yourself to a good book and take the time to notice life's smallest pleasures. Monetary donations should be made to your local cat shelter or vet.
