Vera Mefford, 83, Koshkonong, was born the daughter of the late William Sewell and Lilly Francis Wiggins Sewell, on Nov. 15, 1921 in Gainesville, MO; and died Sept. 13, 2005 from injuries suffered in an automobile accident at Salem, AR. She married Sept. 2, 1940 in Thayer to Albert Amon Mefford.
Survivors include six children, Joan Bunch of West Plains; Alene Mefford of Viola; Alice Collins of Cabool, MO; Judy Henson and husband Darold of Lincoln, IL; Amon Mefford and wife Carolyn of Sheridan, WY; Shirley McCutchen and husband Mike of Thayer, MO; 20 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Willie Sewell, Sam Sewell, Clifford Sewell, Ira Mefford, one infant brother; two sisters, Edna Risley and Nova Haskins; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were Sept. 17 at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains, with the Rev. Clark Stephens and the Rev. John Holesapple officiating. Burial was at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc., West Plains, MO.
