Helen, was born to Robert and Ruth (Bickford) Bloom on February 21, 1935 at her grandparents' home in Locke Township, Williamston, Michigan. Helen was the third of seven children born to her parents. Helen passed away in Williamston on February 8, 2017 at the age of 81.

Helen attended Rowley Country School and graduated from Williamston High School in 1953. She was active in 4-H and won many blue ribbons showing dairy and swine. Once at State 4-H Fair she placed first over her brother Joe and two sisters, Lois and Nancy in dairy. She also attended Michigan State University for a year before returning to help her parents on the family farm but continued her art education through the mail. Helen could look at a cow and tell you every cow's linage.

Helen married John W. Towersey on June 16, 1962. After her marriage to John, she worked with him on his farm in Ionia. Her working career also included working in a restaurant and a factory. After John's passing, Helen returned to Williamston where she cared for children of family and friends.

Helen enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking for her family and caring for others. Helen seemed to have a natural connection with animals and a dog or cat was never far from her side whether her own or her family's pets. Helen and nieces and nephews enjoyed the early morning feeding of the chickens and the gathering of the eggs. The fun continued with taking the eggs into the house and then making breakfast. Brushing Helen's long hair was also a favorite activity with her nieces.

She was very talent artist and loved to sew. She made Halloween costumes, bride maids' dresses for her family and quilts. Helen was an excellent cook and baker. The family always enjoyed her rolls made from her Mother's recipes, cookies and pies.

She was a member of the Crossroad United Methodist Church. Helen's Blonde Apple Brownies were a favorite item to many of a church function.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband John, both her parents and her sister Lois Cooper. Also preceding her are brothers in law, Robert Cooper, Ron McCrum and sisters in law, Barbara Bloom, Jan Bloom and MaryAnn Bloom.

She is survived by her brothers and sisters: Joseph Bloom of Leslie, Nancy (Glen) Ruder of Osseo, and Russell Bloom of Webberville, Joann McCrum of Williamston and Judy Bloom of Boise, ID.

Survivors include Helen's special nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and the great grand generation.
