Vivian M. Blake age 94, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Brethren Care Village. She was born in Ashland on June 10, 1923, the daughter of Carlos and Opal (Shaffer) Gorham. Vivian had been a resident of Ashland most all of her life. She was a 1941 graduate of Ashland High School. She was employed as a Bookkeeper for Ashland College for over 25 years before retiring in 1988. Vivian was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, had been a volunteer for the Red Cross and was on the Election Board for several years. She was an avid reader, enjoyed shopping and traveling. Vivian most enjoyed spending time with her family and being involved in all their lives.
On April 16, 1947 Vivian married Carl A. Blake who preceded her in death in 2011. Survivors include her sons, Jeffrey (Velma) Blake of Ashland, Michael (Joanie) Blake of Warren, and Kevin (Debbie) Blake of Cincinnati; her grandchildren, Jason Blake, Tiffany (Jason) Cochran, and Kendra (Jason) Leeworthy; her great grandchildren, Logan Leeworthy, Kaylee Cochran and Kameron Cochran; her brother, Jack Gorham of New York; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Carl she was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Marilyn Weeber and brother in-law, Charles “Buddy” Weeber.
Funeral services will be held at Heyl Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 12:00 P.M. with Pastor Michael Koch officiating. Burial will follow at Ashland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
