100 Ohio Infantry, Company B
Listed as Morehead on National Parks System
Husband of Rebecca Anne Moorhead
P.C. Moorhead received a telegram Friday of last week stating that his brother William who is a guard in the Ohio state prison at Columbus, was dangerously injured by being struck on the head with a heavy weapon of some kind. It is supposed, of course, he was attacked by a vicious convict, but no particulars were stated. Phil left at once for Columbus and is now there with him. The injured man has three daughters and three sons residing in this vicinty. Since the above was placed in type we learn that the injured man died Saturday night, some twenty-four hours after he was hurt. His skull was found to be broken in two places. Thirty years ago deceased took a homestead four miles south of Deweese and lived there several years. He was fifty-nine years of age. He leaves a family of ten children, their mother having died some years ago; besides his second wife survives him. Of deceased's children residing here there are Alec, near Deweese; Mrs. Ella McNew, Lawrence; and Maggie, Andrew, Georgie and Maudie. In their sad bereavement the sympathy of the community is extended them. - Lawrence (From Lawrence Locomotive.)
