Barney Ray Adams, 83, of 155 Oak Ridge Drive, Altavista, died on Wednesday, November 6, 2018, at his home. He was the husband of Marjorie Roberts Adams for 56 years. He was born on September 21, 1935, in Lynchburg and was the son the late Victor Hugh Adams and Katie Coates Adams. He was preceded in death by his brother, Sanford Hugh Adams. Barney graduated from Altavista High School and retired from Sprint with 44 years of service. He lovingly served his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at Penuel Baptist Church where he was a Trustee, Deacon, and Sunday School teacher. He is survived by his four children, Timothy Adams and his wife, Lisa, of Farmville and their children, Melanie Adams of Farmville and Ryan Adams and wife, Robin, of Keysville; Bonnie Booth and her husband, Scott, of Lynchburg and their children, Forrest, Ashlyn, and Chandler Booth; John Adams and his wife, Paige, of Fuquay-Varina, N.C. and their children, Cooper, Abigail, and Avery Adams; and James Adams and his wife, Nicole of Salem and their children, Emma and Zachary Adams; and six great-grandchildren, Katie Bobb, Logan Bobb, Faith McCormick, Jeremiah McCormick, Trae Adams and Landon Adams. The family would like to thank Amanda, Latosha, and Stephanie from Touched by an Angel, Tabitha, Rebecca and Jasmine from Senior Independence Hospice and Cova for their incredible dedication and loving care. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Penuel Baptist Church by the Rev. Carlton Gunter with interment to follow at Green Hill Cemetery, Altavista. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m., Friday, November 9, 2018, at Finch & Finch Funeral & Cremation Service, Altavista and other times at the residence.
