Phyllis Jean Able, 79, passed away on Wednesday evening, November 7, 2018 in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin.
She was born on February 5, 1939 in Marion County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Walden Elmore and Alta (Graves) Cheek. She married James Able. Phyllis is survived by children, Randy Lee (Sue) Meece, Cheryl (Gary) Wethington, Loretta Fay (Joe) Worton, Tammy Jo (Scott) Hampton, Melinda Gayle (Jeff) Thomasson, Beverly Elaine (Shawn) Tanner, Kevin Scott (Denise) Meece and Jeffrey Alan (Pam) Meece. Also surviving are many grandchildren and great grandchildren and siblings, Anita Rickman, Ella Sumpter, John Elmore, Paula Elmore and Sharon Elmore. She was preceded in passing by her parents; step-father, John Cheek; husband, James Able; sister, Pearl Parham and brothers, Steve Cheek and Ronnie Elmore.
She was a graduate of Franklin Community High School.
Phyllis was employed as a Saleswoman at Heritage Automotive.
She enjoyed crafts and listening to gospel music.
A celebration of Phyllis’s life will be held on Monday, November 12 at 1:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin with calling on Monday, from 11:00 a.m. to time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, Indiana.
