Amon Zackious Beasley, 85, went to his eternal home on Nov. 1, 2018.

Amon, formerly of Bryson City, N.C., was a resident of Oak Forest, Ill.

Amon served in the US Army for 2 years, 1954-1956. He married Dorothy Graves in 1961, and they enjoyed 47 years together, before her death in 2008.

Amon was a member of First Baptist Church in Tinley Park, Ill. and also served many years as a deacon, usher and teacher at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Country Club Hills, Ill. He retired from Chicago Kenworth, and also worked for Mack Trucks serving as a parts salesman for both companies. Since retirement he has enjoyed reading, watching a good western, working in his yard, and traveling to visit family. Amon was a hard-working man who enjoyed serving His Lord and helping his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by wife of 47 years, Dorothy Lynn Graves Beasley; parents, Thomas and Ferby Franklin Beasley; brother, James Beasley; sisters, Hazel Beasley Cammire, and Ruth Beasley Fry Burdette.

Survivors include daughter, Rhonda Beasley, of Wichita, Kan.; sons and daughter-in-law, Terry and Denise Beasley, of Cameron, Mo., Carl Beasley, of Wichita, Kan. and Thomas Beasley, of Plainfield, Ill. Amon was blessed with six grandchildren that he loved and adored, Victoria, Gabe, Eden, Angelique, Judah and David Beasley. He is also survived by a sister, Jackie Beasley Tarver, of Knoxville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 12 at Zion Chapel Baptist Church, in Louisville, Tenn. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Zion Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Illinois Baptist Children's Home, 949 County Road, 1300 North, Carmi, Ill. 62821.
