VICTIM OF CRUSH IN GRAVEL
LOADER DIES IN HOSPITAL

Harold Allen Egbert, 28, who was crushed between a gravel loader and a truck near the point of the mountain Monday afternoon, died in the Salt Lake general hospital Wednesday at 9 a.m.
The accident occurred when a cable on the gravel loader, with which employes of the county were doing road repair work, broke. Egbert climbed out of the operator's cab to inspect it and an unloaded truck slipped into the pit and pinned the victim between the two machines. He was taken to the general hospital, where he underwent an operation Tuesday night in an effort to save his life.
Mr. Egbert was born in West Jordan April 17, 1904, and had resided there all his life. He was the star catcher of the Provo baseball club in the Utah State league.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Adeline Riggs Egbert; one son and two daughters, Hal R., 5; Barbara Jean, 7; and Dolores, 3; his mother, Mrs. John A. Egbert, all of West Jordan; four brothers, John Egbert of Long Beach, Cal.; Wilford and Ross Egbert of West Jordan, and Alma Egbert of Salt Lake, and four sisters; Mrs. Ethel Smith of Thatcher, Ariz.; Mrs. Vera Powell of Missouri; Mrs. Arvilla McEwan and Mrs. Ida Krogh of Salt Lake.
