Mary A. “Amie” Sherwood was the daughter of the late Edgar A. Beargeon and Ellen T. Sullivan Beargeon. Amie moved with her family to Albany, NY in 1939 and lived in the Capital District for the last 79 years. Amie was a former life member of Wolferts Roost Country Club. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church and a long-time volunteer at St. Peters Hospital, counseling cancer patients and later working as a liaison at the surgical desk. She enjoyed watching and playing tennis and continued to play into her late seventies. After raising her 6 children, Amie enjoyed wintering in Florida until recent years. Amie was an avid reader, particularly of historical fiction, and she loved to go to the movies, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family and was always at the center of a good conversation!

In addition to her parents, Amie was predeceased by her husband of 21 years, John C. Griffin, her husband of 27 years, Robert J. Sherwood and her sister, Theresa B. Mayer. Amie is survived by six children; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother and many nieces, nephews and friends.
