William Boys, Esq, born say 1498, Fredville Manor of Nonington parish, county Kent, England to John Boys, Esq and Elizabeth Alday. He married about 1525 probably in the county of Staff to Mary Ringely (c.1503-1557), coheir of her brother Richard Ringeley, Knt.

William Boys died on 14 December 1549. His will was dated 22 September 1549 and was proved 23 July 1550. His will lists by name his wife, Mary, his three daughters and five five sons. He lists his eldest son as Edward and makes a bequest to his sister, Margaret. Sons Vincent and John, are listed as not of age at the time the will was written. The will is registered in the Calendar of Wills and Administrations now preserved in the Probate Registry at Canterbury, 1396-1558.


William Boys will read, in part:

To the marriage of my three daughters, Elen, Mary and Elizabeth £40 each, also 100 livres each the which their uncle Sir Edward Ringley bequeathed them. My four sons Thomas, William, Vincent and John £20 each at their age of 21. That Edward Boyse (sic) be coadjutor to his mother in the administration of this my Will, but not to meddle as Exor (executor), and he to have £20. Edward, my eldest son... to suffer his mother and Aunt Margaret to have their dwelling whilst they live in the mansion of Fredfields (Fredville) with free coming and going into a chamber commonly called the 'Nursserye' with the chambers over the buttery, also allow his mother to take half the profits of the Wind Mill [An early mill on the Easole corn mill site].
