Benedict T. Lovejoy, 79, of Fort Totten, ND passed away on Friday, 9 Nov 2018 at the Good Samaritan Care Center in Devils Lake, ND.

Funeral services for Benedict are Friday, 16 Nov 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fort Totten Recreation Center with Greg Holy Bull officiating. Benedict will be laid to rest in St. Michael's Cemetery.

Benedict of the Spirit Lake Nation was born on 15 Apr 1939 at St. Michael, ND the son of Alfred and Lucy (Abraham) Lovejoy. Ben went to school at the Catholic School in the St. Michael area. Ben and his wife Della (Stricker) Lovejoy then lived and worked in Fort Totten.

Ben was a well-known Men's Traditional Dancer throughout the United States. He competed and traveled to pow-wows throughout the United States and Canada. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his daughter, Joni BullBear of Kyle SD; his grandchilden, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Della Stricker Lovejoy; brothers, Frank Lovejoy, Gerald "Porky" Lovejoy, Jimmy "Skunk" Lovejoy; parents Alfred and Lucy Lovejoy; nephew Terrance Guy; and great grandson Keelye Owen Delane Lovejoy.

Pallbearers are Joseph Jay Lovejoy, Ivan Lovejoy Jr., Charles "Chucj" Lovejoy, Dustin Lovejoy, Jeff WhiteShield, Alvin WhiteShield, Lance Cavanaugh and Philmore Jackson.
