Lee Roy Nance of Polkton, NC went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, November 15, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

Leroy was born July 27, 1936 in Union County, NC to the late Roy Eli Nance and the late Gladys Lee Carpenter Nance.
He was also preceded in death by his sister Dora Susan Sims; and his brother Carson Ponds.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Taylor Nance, of the home; sons Rev. Dr. Darrell Nance and wife Penny Treece Nance of Stanfield, NC; Jeremy Kevin Nance and wife Shannon Bearden Nance of Polkton, NC; granddaughter Morgan Nance Carpenter and husband Joshua Lyle Carpenter of Peachland, NC; grandson Ethan Lee Nance of Polkton, NC; brother, Wayne Peoples Nance of Carmel,CA; as well as two nieces and one nephew.

Mr. Nance proudly served in the United States Army as a tank mechanic. He retired after 36 years of service with Overnite Transportation. Leroy loved his church, Rocky Mount Baptist Church where over the years he served as a Deacon, church trustee, sunday school superintendent and teacher, and a variety of committees. He enjoyed working on his farm and spent years hunting quail and raising his bird dogs. Most of all Leroy loved spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm - 2:45pm on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Rocky Mount Baptist Church Cemetery. Funeral services will follow at 3:00pm, officiated by Rev. Billy Hill and Rev. David Wyatt. Mr. Nance will be laid to rest in the church cemetery with full military honors.

Memorials may be made in Mr. Nance's honor to the Library Fund of Rocky Mount Baptist Church, 4167 Rocky Mount Church Road, Polkton, NC 28135.
