Eva B. (Reeder) Doxie was the first born to the late Ernest Woods and Beatrice Reeder. She was the oldest of nine children. Preceding her in death are her sister, Nettie Love; brothers, Charles Reeder, John E. Woods, and Ernest Woods Jr.; and stepfather, Henry Reeder.

On June 20, 1948, Eva was united in marriage to Robert L. Doxie, who preceded her in death. To that union, five children were born. Eva was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and most of all, a loving Christian woman who loved to cook for her family.

Mother Doxie confessed Christ at an early age and united with Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she remained until death. She served as chairman of the Mother’s Board, sang in the Chancel Choir, served as chairman of Missionary Society, was a member of the Kitchen Committee, and formed the Birthday Committee Club. Her kindness, generosity, and nurturing spirit were known throughout the community.

She leaves to cherish her memories: children, Barbara S. Ragland of Bolingbrook, Illinois, Debra R. Doxie, Orlanda E. Patterson, Ricky L. (Christine) Doxie, all of Florence, Alabama, and Gerald L. Doxie (Annette) of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; brothers, Leonard (Angie) Reeder of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and Robert Reeder of Matteson, Illinois; sisters, Martha Crawley, Henrietta Goodman, Delois Cannon, all of Syracuse, New York, and Geneva Robinson of Washington, D.C.; aunts, Louise Tucker of Syracuse, New York, Barbara Jones of Flint, Michigan, Betty Smith, and Louise Cooper, both of Florence, Alabama; brother-in-law, Howard (Jewel) Doxie of Saginaw, Michigan; sisters-in-law, Ester Mae Napier of Lima, Ohio, Christine Livingston, and Sarah Johnson, both of Saginaw, Michigan; ten grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
