Born on November 12, 1937 in Raleigh County, she was the daughter of the late Burton O'Neal and Octavia Hawkins O'Neal.
Mrs. Edwards was a homemaker. She had made her home in Terry for most of her life, and enjoyed working puzzles, writing letters, reading, and playing cards.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Edwards Butler, infant sister, Hester Ann, two grandchildren, John Henry Butler, and Christy Lynn Butler, and by a brother, Marcus Eugene "Markie" O'Neal on October 16, 2016.
Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her husband of 61 years, Wesley Edwards Jr.; children; Wesley Edwards III and Glenn Edwards, both of Terry; Sheila Horsnby and her husband Thomas of Mechanicsville, Virginia, Joy Richmond of Midway, Tina Edwards of Lester, and Duana Edwards of Sophia; a brother, Eddie O'Neal and his wife Nancy of Rupert; five sisters Ethel Arthur and her husband Dale of Shady Spring, Elizabeth "Liz" Gardner and her husband Harley of Beckley, Elsie Bennett and her husband Jimmy of Shady Spring, Joyce Hornsby and her husband Rev. Jimmie Hornsby of Shady Spring, and Patty Jones of Beckley; nine grandchildren , twelve great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren also survive.
