Joyce Gunter King, 97, of Kingwood, TX passed away Friday, November 16, 2018. She was born in San Augustine, TX on September 4, 1921 to John and Lillie Ponder. She was married to Leroy Gunter on December 22, 1938. Leroy passed away in 1985. Joyce then married Roger King who then passed away in 2000. She took great pride in her 4 children and beloved husband who was a shift worker at Diamond Alkali in Pasadena. She was a long time member of Watters Road Church of Christ. Joyce had a passion for quilting, sewing, gardening, cooking, baking and deer hunting.

She was preceded in death by both of her husbands; daughter, Johnnie Fulks; son, Roy Gunter; granddaughter, Carey Gunter; grandson, Jason Jacobs; son-in-law, John Jacobs; all 7 of her siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Jacobs and Carol Margiolos and husband Ken; 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Pat Gunter; son-in-law, Morris Fulks; numerous other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 18, 2018 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, TX 77505. Joyce’s Celebration of Life will follow on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Grand View Funeral Home. Interment at Grand View Memorial Park.
