His brother, David was born in 1696, William jr. was born in 1698 and Alexander in 1700. All 3 were born in Colonial New York.
Born in Westchester, New York Colony, William arrived in Horseneck Connecticut before 1715. He was 25 when he married Hannah Avery (b.1698 d.1752) in Greenwich, CT. About five years later, on 16 Feb 1722, we know he bought land in Greenwich based on an unpublished manuscript by M. Owings in the Proctor Free Library in Vermont. He was a carpenter and lived until he was 82 years old, 20 years longer than his wife Hannah.
Burial is said to be:
Sutherland Cemetery
Chatham, Columbia County, New York.
There is a William and a Hannah Sutherland in the Sutherland family burial ground, but the dates are from more than 100 years later. They're most likely descendants of theirs. They are believed to be buried on their farm in the Bedford, Westchester area of Duchess County.
