Uncle Bubber as the children of our family called him was the son of Margaret (Madge) Allen Kellogg (Memorial 194894381) and Mr. Packard. When Aunt Madge was about 13 years old she went to Missouri to visit Aunt Kittie , her father's sister. While there she met a Packard boy. Apparently fooling around she became pregnant. She remained with Aunt Kittie till after the birth then returned home without the baby.

Years later, 1919, when Bud was 17 years old he showed up in California to get to know his mother and remained the rest of his life living and taking care of Aunt Madge..

Bud was a hard worker and worked for the Veterans Hospital in Menlo Park becoming a supervisor of the mental facility at Dibble Hospital. He also drove a Greyhound Bus for many years. .I don't know which he worked for first.

His California death certificate #1515 has some errors on it as does the affidavit #36297AC made out by two people claiming to be his brother. I feel they may have had a brother. but if it was Bud, he would be their half brother, having only the same father but different mothers. Either they were not aware of this fact or are mistaken about Bud being their brother. They even went so far as to change his mother from Aunt Madge to their mother as well as his year of birth. Francis Lee, his half-brother was only five years of age when Bud came to California in 1919 so naturally would think he had been born in California or was too inebriated to state the facts.
The death certificate plainly says he was DOA when her arrived at the hospital. Earlier that day after Bud had been in the hospital a week having suffered a heart attack, Aunt Madge and I, Star, had brought him home, putting him in his room for rest. Aunt Madge said about 10 pm he yelled Maaaaaaaaaaaa and by the time she got to him he was gone. Apparently she sent him to the hospital to try to save him but he was all ready dead. (I will post the death certificate when I get it photocopied).

Bud had a great personality and was a practical joker just like his mother. Whenever we went to Aunt Madges as kids we would pretty much stay with Uncle Bubber as he was so much fun. He would also support us as we rode the Jack that they had. in the early years the vacant lot next to their property whether they owned it or not was used by Bud. He was always making things. He built a playhouse for Margie Ann which was so cute although by our age now it really was too small to play in since it had been built when Margie Ann was around 2. We could get in it but not stand in it.

Sometime in the 50s Bud left home only the one time for about 3 months. During this time he met a woman and married her although it didn't last long enough for the ink to dry. He came home after the 3 months and either had the marriage annulled or got a divorce. He never spoke of the incident and the only reason I know is because Aunt Madge talked to Mom of it and Mom told me.

One time he and Aunt Madge came out to the ranch for a visit . I had just got a new puppy and we were deciding what to name it. Uncle Bubber said why not Zero jokingly, but because it was Uncle Bubber suggesting it that is what I named the puppy. Unfortuantly the puppy came down with distemper and died shortly as did the next puppy I got, but it was so quick I did not get the second puppy named.

Bud was buried in Alta Mesa as most of our family are.

Bio written by cousin Star Kathleen Cook on 23 November 2018 with great thoughts and plesant memories of Uncle Bubber.
