Mrs Purvis was a 1921 graduate of Titusville High School and a 1925 graduate of Slippery Rock University. She taught in the Oil City School District until June 25, 1945. She was a member of the Middlesex Presbyterian Church and the Rose Society of Pittsburgh. Mrs Purvis had competed in rose shows. In addition to her parents and husband, three brothers, Harold Wagner, Louis Wagner and Frederick Wagner, and a sister, Florence Flockerzy, died previously.
