Our father Gilbert S. Mirabal was born on August 15, 1930 in San Mateo, New Mexico to Serafin and Perfetita Sandoval Mirabal.
He and Epimenia Gonzales married on Nov. 17, 1947 and were together for 57 years. Dad served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany.
Dad worked as a machinist most of his life and for the U.S. Forest Service as a sign maker. In his retired life he made cabinets and was an all around handyman.
Dad is survived by his wife Epimenia Gonzales Mirabal, and children; Gilbert Mirabal Jr. and wife Rose, Minerva (Minnie)Mirabal, Estevan Mirabal and wife Cindy, Patricia Eldridge, Larry Mirabal, Rose Mary Buchannan and husband Clive, Catherine LaCroix and husband Michael, Michael Mirabal and Serafin Mirabal and wife Jodi, and 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Dad was preceded in death by his parents Serafin and Perfetita Sandoval Mirabal, grandparents; Jose de Jesus and Lugardita Marquez Mirabal and Jose Leandro and Eufelia Chaves Sandoval, brother; Reynaldo Mirabal and sister; Emilia Mirabal Adams and daughter Rebecca and son George Mirabal and grandson Carlos Vigil Jr (Bear) and daughter-in-law Prescilla Ann Mirabal.
