Bill attended Catawba Valley Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and owned and operated Duckworth Backhoe. He had been a member of Catawba Valley Masonic Lodge #217. Bill loved to travel and was an avid racing fan.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Mae Webb Duckworth, second wife, Julia Price Duckworth, third wife, Bessie Mae Webb Duckworth; brothers, Ivey and Lewis Duckworth; sisters, Louise Mosteller, Marie Powell, and Virginia Curtis; step-children, Floyd Brackett and Bessie Marie Carswell; and step-grandson, Mike Carswell.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, November 26, 2018 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Mike Duckworth officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
