Mrs. Frances Branom Dead.

Mrs. Frances Branom of 1420 East 17th street died this morning after a few days illness of heart trouble.

Mrs. Branom has made her home with her grandson, John Reed and family for several years. She has many friends here.

Frances Marcella Farr was born in 1837 at Nashville, Tennessee. She was married at the age of 22 years to S.T. Branom in Nashville. They made their home at that place until ten years ago, when they came to Winfield.

Mrs. Branom united with the Baptist church while a young girl. She has been a faithful member since that time.

Mrs. Branom is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Sarah E. Connor of Winfield; Mrs. Dolly Holersteen of Mashville, Missouri; Mrs. Jane Dare of Denver, Colorado; Mrs. Ellen Flack of Van Cleve, Colorado; Mrs. Viola Thompson of Kansas City, and two sons, Thomas Branom of Hominy, Oklahoma and Samuel Branom of Van Cleve, Colorado.

Mrs. Branom was 84 years of age at the time of her death.

The funeral services will be held Tuesday, afternoon, but definite arrangements have not been made.

Frances Minerva Farr, sometimes called "Minerva". the ninth child of Samuel and Elizabeth was born near Maryville, Tennessee. She was married on October 4th, 1855, to John Boone (?) Branom, at Marysville, going there-after to Knoxville where their first child, Sarah Elizabeth, was born June 16th, 1857. The remainder of their children were born in Webster Co., Missouri. The family is found living next to her parents, Samuel and Elizabeth, in the 1860 Census. Evidently, Minerva and her family arrived in Webster Co., a year or two after the rest of the family.
On August 28th, 1861, John Branom enlisted in the Union Army with Co., "C", 8th Missouri Calvary. He served until June 27th, 1865. Minerva's brothers, Ezekiel J "Jesse" and Samuel Mathes were also in this unit.
In 1905, Minerva's daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Conner, who was widowed in 1901, moved with her children to Lincoln Co., in Indian Territory, and it is thought that Minerva and John went there also, at the same time. On February 28th, 1909, John Branom died while living with the Conner family in Lincoln Co. He is buried in Forest Cemetery, south of Chandler, in Lincoln Co., Oklahoma. Minerva apparently went to live with some of the family near Winfield, Kansas, where she died July 17th, 1921, and was buried in South Vernon Cemetery near Winfield, in Cowley Co. The family erected a hand-carved stone marked with this inscription:
"Francis M Branom"
