Robert was a buoy tender at the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for the past 10 years. Prior to this, he was a parts manager for Winters Yacht Basin, Mantoloking, for 10 years. Robert was a 1989 graduate of Toms River High School East, where he was a member of the school's cross country, wrestling, baseball and weight lifting teams, and also he loved bowling and was a loyal teammate in all his activities. He was an avid fisherman and a member of the Nottingham Hunting Club in New Gretna. He was very devoted to his family and friends. He loved motorcycle rides and participating in numerous charity rides.
Surviving are his wife, Sharyn Corrigan Keenan; a son, Alexander Robert Keenan, at home; his parents, Robert W. Sr. and Arlene Miller Keenan of Little Egg Harbor; a brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Joyce Keenan of Manahawkin, Stafford; a nephew, Noah Hunter of Manahawkin; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mike and Peggy Corrigan of Toms River; and a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Sean, Erin and Meghan Corrigan.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 to 9 a.m. Friday at Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, 412 Main St., Toms River. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Justin Roman Catholic Church, Toms River. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Toms River. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alexander Robert Keenan Trust Fund, c/o Arlene Keenan, would be greatly appreciated.
