Maria Roszak, aka sister Cecylia, was a Domincan nun. Born in West Poland, she entered a Dominican convent in the city of Krakow at the age of 21. In 1938, she was sent to Vilnius, then part of Poland, in order to build up a new community. During the Second World War, she and her sisters hid and saved two Jewish children whose parents died in the Holocaust. After the War, she returned to Krakow. In 1984 she was honoured as "Righteous among the nations". Several times she served as prioress of her cloister.
At the time of her death at the age of 110 she was considered the oldest nun in the world.
