Floyd S. Crafts Sr., 94, retired hotelman and former resident of Wilmington, Vt., died Tuesday at William & Mary Nursing Home after an extended illness. He was born in South Hadley, Mass., the son of Bela K. and Julia (Montague) Crafts. Graduating from Deerfield Academy and the Springfield Business College in 1894, he moved to Wilmington as a mill auditor and assistant at the Vermont House. He was co-owner and operator of the Childs Tavern, along with his first wife May Allen Crafts, from its establishment in 1903. Previously they had operated the Vermont House. He was a charter member and past worshipful master of the Wilmington Masonic Social Lodge, a member of the Scottish and York rites of Masonry and a Shriner. He served as a worthy patron of Mayflower Chapter in Wilmington and a deputy grand patron of the Order of Eastern Star. He was a former member of the Congregational Churches in Wilmington and St. Petersburg, the Morgan Horse Club and the Vermont Hotel Association. He retired in 1950. Surviving are his second wife, the former Lisabelle Linnell Bryant (d.1978) of 2440 Woodlawn Circle East; a daughter, Mrs. Edward Grady of Littleton, N.H.; a son, F. Stanley Crafts Jr. of Wilmington and St. Petersburg; a step-son, Bancroft Bryant of Canton, Mass.; a stepdaughter, Miss Priscilla Bryant of Wilmington, Del.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Rhodes Funeral Home, St. Petersburg. A Masonic committal will be conducted in Wilmington, arrangements for which are incomplete. Friends who desire may make memorial contributions to the Cancer Fund.
