In the 1920 Federal Census of Yalobusha County, J. L. Blair, age 84, can be found living with his son E. C. Blair and his daughter-in-law N. C. Blair.
He is not found in the 1930 Census.

Enlisted in Yallobusha Rifles, Company H, 15th Mississippi Infantry, May 29, 1861. He was captured December 16th, 1864 in the battle of Nashville Tennessee, and sent thence to Camp Douglass on December 24th, where he spent the remainder of the war.
