James Roger Davis, son of Ralph W. Davis and Esther Smith Byrkett Davis died along with his Grandmother, Mrs. Goldie Byrkett of carbon monoxide poisoning. Wallace M. Davis, uncle to the infant and father Ralph were with them they were on their way to Doembecker Hospital in Portland, where they were taking the boy for treatment of spinal meningitis.The automobile stalled in a 25 foot snow drift on the Evergreen Highway, in the Mt. Pleasant district.They left their motor running in an effort to keep warm.
