Funeral services for Dallas Herd, 85, of Gainesville were held Saturday, May 19 at the Gainesville Church of Christ with Halbert Smith officiating. Burial was in Isabella Cemetery.
Mr. Herd died May 16, 2007, at Gassville, Ark. He was born July 21, 1921, at Isabella, the son of Joe and Alta Mae (Wallace) Herd.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. He was a farmer and a teacher. He served as the Ozark County County Clerk for 40 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Mr. Herd is survived by two daughters, Jeanie Richison of Gainesville and Dana McConnell and her husband, Roger, of Flippin, Ark.; one son, Brent Herd and his wife, Allene, of Miller; two sisters, Donna Hobbs of Grandview and Bonnie Johnson of Dixon; five grandchildren, Patti Clark and her husband, Brad, of Smyrna, Tenn., Shawn Richison and his wife, Jan, of Ozark, Erin Richison of Gainesville, Corey Evans and his wife, Courtney, of Omaha, Ark., and Kristian Shaver and her husband, Rusty, of Franklin, Ark.; three step-grandchildren, Toni Ray, Brandi McConnell and Tammy Tucker; 16 great-grandchildren; special nephew, Garrick Honeycutt; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mae Herd; one son, Brad Herd; one grandson, Case Evans; four sisters, Alaska Swearengin, Blanche Honeycutt, Norma Herron and Stella Trotter; two brothers, Willard Herd and Elvin Herd; and two brothers and two sisters who died in infancy.
