William J. Farnsworth Passes Away at Home of His Daughter
The death of William J. Farnsworth at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. H. Dibert of the northside, Wednesday afternoon of last week, marked the passing of one of Garrett's oldest citizens. Mr. Farnsworth was aged eighty-two years, ten months and sixteen days. He had been ailing for several weeks, but his demise was simply from the infirmities of old age.
The funeral was conducted from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dibert Friday afternoon by Rev. C. H. Mann of Elkhart; interment at Calvary cemetery.
Mr. Farnsworth was born at Burlington, Ohio, and came to Garrett from South Bend in 1876. He was a carpenter by trade was employed by the B. &, O. for a number of years. He also engaged in contracting and erected quite a number of houses in Garrett.
He was a staunch democrat, well read in politics and ever ready and willing to work in the party ranks where his presence will be sadly missed in future campaigns.
Surviving him are two daughters and two sons, Mrs. J. H. Dibert and Mrs. Charles Green, Herbert and Willis Farnsworth.
