The body arrived in Vinton Friday night, accompanied by the, daughter, Mrs. Frank McArthur, and was taken to the Home of the son, E, M. Tinkham, where the funeral service was held.
Mrs. Tinkham's maiden name wasVirginia Mossman. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Mossman, and was born April 3, 1843. She came to this county with her parents when a small girl and they settled on a farm near Urbana.
For a number of years she was a successful school teacher. Her marriage to J. L. Tinkham took place in 1863 while he was home from the army on furlough.
At the close of the war they moved to Vinton and lived continuously in the same house until the death of Mr. Tinkham about eighteen months ago. Since the death her husband, Mrs. Tinkham made her home with her daughter,
During her long life In Vinton Mrs. Tinkham was a leader in the social and religious activities of our city. She was a leader in the work of the Methodist church and for a number of years was director of the choir.
During the few years preceding her death she was kept at home by ill health, and she was greatly missed in the circles where she had such a prominent part.
She was a woman whom all loved, and many old friends sorrow with the two children because of her passing.
Besides the daughter, Mrs. McArthur, and the son, E. M. Tinkham, she is survived, by one brother, A. P. Mossman, now of Long Beach, Calif.
