Surnames: McMILLEN, BEACH, SHEPARD
William McMILLEN, Sr., son of Hugh McMILLEN, who was born at Loch, Scotland, came to
America and settled near the head of Lake George, where he became an enterprising
citizen, and where he died. Among the children of William, Sr., was William, Jr., who was
born in Athol, Warren county, Nov. 8, 1813, and came to Dayton in 1831. By his first
wife, Esther BEACH, of Bennington, Vt., he had five children: Mary A., Margaret, James,
William W., and Wesley. His second wife was Corilla SHEPARD, who has borne him six
children: Orland, Rachel, John, Edwin, Frank, and Irving. Mr. McMILLEN has been deputy
sheriff and constable nine years and now resides near Markham.
