William Reginald "Reggie" Atkins, 64, of Chester, died April 10, 2002 in Chippenham Medical Center. Mr. Atkins was born in King and Queen County, a son of the late William Douglas and Virginia Cooke Atkins. He was retired from Reynolds Metals Co. having served as an accountant for many years. He was a member and a past deacon in Chester Baptist Church where he also served as Sunday school director for many years. He was a director on the Board at Reymet Federal Credit Union. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Beverly Atkins. He is survived by his wife, Ella Massey Atkins; two sons, William T. Atkins of Williamsburg and Douglas M. Atkins of Chester; three sisters, Barbara Childress and her husband, Bill, Laverne Longest and Shirley Smith and her husband, Charles. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 13 in the Chester Baptist Church, with his pastor, Dr. Edward Stansfield officiating. The interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Chesterfield Chapel of J. T. Morris & Son Funeral Home (3050 W. Hundred Rd.) on Friday from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in his memory to the Building Fund, Chester Baptist Church, P.O. Box 2370, Chester, Va. 23831 or to Chesterfield Fire/EMS, Company 735, P.O. Box 40, Chesterfield, Va. 23832.
