Doris Banks, 84, of rural West Liberty, died Friday, March 2, 2007, at Crestview Acres in Marion, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree, Iowa. Rev. Paul Ostrem of the Zion Lutheran Church will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Ed Masek, Dennis Starr, Clayton Foreman, Clayton Foreman Jr., Kenneth Foreman, Doug Crouch and Merle Price. Visitation for Doris will be held on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 from 12:30 P.M. till service time at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree. Doris Stemm was born on January 8, 1923 in Johnson County, Iowa the daughter of Albert & Vella (Brandt) Stemm. On November 20, 1954, she was united in marriage to LeRoy Banks in Bloomfield, Iowa. Doris was a devoted wife and mother and also had a great love for cats and dogs. She loved cooking, baking, sewing, gardening and farm life.
Doris is survived by her son, Larry Banks of West Liberty; two sisters, Dorothy Kostman and Martha Sundberg both of Cedar Rapids; three nieces, Shirley Starr and her husband Dennis of Cedar Rapids, Debra Foreman and her husband Clayton of Toddville and Sheila Kostman of Cedar Rapids.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, LeRoy Banks, in 1987.
