Neta Theresa Schafer, of Oak Hill, Florida, went home to be with her Lord on November 23, 2015. She was born March 10, 1921, in Mifflinburg, PA, to the late, Albert and Carrie Hartman Spitler. Neta attended Williamsport Commercial College and Toccoa Falls College. She married Albert Schafer in 1945 and they travelled together for many years as part of a music and evangelistic team throughout the US and Canada. Neta and Al also served in a number of churches in both West Virginia and Missouri. They moved to Florida in 1961, where Neta worked for a number of accounting agencies. Neta was also a gifted pianist and taught privately in the Daytona Beach area as well as playing in her church, First Baptist Church, Port Orange, for almost 40 years. She will be remembered as having a deep faith in God and a great love for her family. Neta is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Kenyon of McCarthy, AK, her son, Ron Schafer of Lynchburg, VA; four grandsons, Richard Kenyon, Jr. (Donalsonville, GA), Nicholas Schafer, Nathan Schafer, and Scott Schafer, (all from Lynchburg, VA); and four great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Albert Schafer, her parents, Albert and Carrie Spitler and her brother, Glenn Spitler. A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015 at First Baptist Church, 316 Church Street, in Port Orange, Florida.
