He was born on November 2, 1941, in Morrisonville, IL, the son of Ernest and Mary M. (Deon) Smith. He married Betty Harvell on June 29, 1976, in Las Vegas, NV and she preceded him in death on August 27, 2012.
Donald worked as a coal miner and he was a truck driver.
He is survived by his sisters, Helen Barding, Mary Kelley and Joyce Lutchka; step-sons, Tom Harvel and Steven "Zeke" Harvel; step-daughters, Cherilyn Mundhenke, Christine Painter, Kathleen Hemmer and Melissa Randolph; grandchildren, Mark Allen and Matthew Randolph and numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parent; brothers, Harold, Ernest, Clayton, Victor and Glenn Smith and sisters, Reba Best, Louise Mrotzek, Roseane Mefford and Betty Neikes.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville.. Inurnment will be held at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, in Taylorville, IL with military graveside honors.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
