After her death in 1903, he married Margaret Williams Medler, widow of William Medler, on December 29, 1906. His birth year is 1867 as recorded in Michigan Births. In early records, he is called Sippion G. Riopelle.

"Sidney J. Riopelle, 85, died early today in Port Huron Hospital. He was born in Detroit December 19, 1866. He is survived by his widow, Margaret, St. Clair; two daughters, Lillian and Ina; a son Perry; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Jolicouer and Mrs. Agnes Longton; 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was a blacksmith in St. Clair where he lived for more than sixty years. Funeral services were held at the T. R. Bower Funeral Home and at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rev. Msgr. Edward Kromenaker, officiating. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery." - Port Huron Times Herald, September 9, 1953
