Lauren Brooke Elena Alejandra De La Rosa-Hull came into this world on March 14, 2001 in Fort Worth, Texas to Ezequiel De La Rosa and Lisa Hull. On December 11, 2018, at age 17, Lauren closed her beautiful brown eyes and opened them in heaven. Lauren is now reunited with Henry Chico Perez (grandfather) and Rowdy Shane Hull (uncle).
Lauren is survived by her mother Lisa Hull; her two fathers Ezequiel De La Rosa and Jeff Hull; her four sisters Faith Hull, Dallas Hull, Abigail Araceli De La Rosa, and Carolina Pastor; her brother Emilio Pastor; her grandmother Juanita D. Perez and grandfather Jose DeJesus De La Rosa; her grandmother Sissy Brown and grandfather Steve Carroll; her biological grandfather Ralph Hux; her step-mother Esperanza Tovar; her grandfather Ray Hull and grandmother Brenda Hull; and an abundance of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.
While living in Lindsay, Oklahoma, Lauren worked at Nabors Welding & Supplies after first working at Coffee Ville and then at Katie Koffee Company, serving up caffeine and smiles. She attended Mid-America Technology Center in Wayne, Oklahoma and was studying her dream career: cosmetology. She would graduate careertech in January 2019. She was also home schooled through Vandament Avenue Baptist Academy and would graduate in May 2019.
Her sparkling personality matched her sparkling eyes, clothes, and nails. But her real signature was her long, lovely eyelashes. She loved to braid her friends’ hair, shape their eyebrows, and pick out stylish outfits. Her career goal was to start her own salon one day. Eventually, she would get her master’s degree and become a teacher.
Determined to make a difference in people’s lives, Lauren became the president of SkillsUSA in Oklahoma and traveled with her team to Washington, D.C. and Kentucky. She volunteered at a veterans’ hospital, started a Superhero reading program at OU Children’s Hospital and a program to feed the homeless in Oklahoma City, and spoke at leadership conferences to rally and unify her SkillsUSA team.
When spending time with friends and family, she loved ice-skating, drinking coffee, attending leadership conferences and church activities, playing her guitar, and singing Honky Tonk Badonkadonk (complete with the dance moves).
Although Lauren was a faithful member of Vandament Avenue Baptist Church in Yukon, Oklahoma, she played guitar in the Erin Springs Baptist youth band choir. She asked Jesus into her heart at age 10 and showed Christ’s love ever since.
Lauren was generous and compassionate toward everyone, but especially to those in need. Upon discovering a friend had holes in her shoes, Lauren began collecting money to replace the girl’s shoes. When a man without a family was facing Christmas alone, Lauren organized an event to show him love and support.
She was a true leader who left her family and friends with an unforgettable legacy built on generosity, thoughtfulness, and contagious smiles. She never met a stranger and treated each person as if they were her best friend. Above all, Lauren adored her family and had a very special bond with her sisters.
Lauren will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her, but her memory will live strong in everyone’s hearts. Her funeral services will be held on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Smith & Turner Mortuary at 201 E. Main St., Yukon, Oklahoma. Lauren will be laid to rest at a special graveside service at Green Hill Cemetery in Muskogee, Oklahoma at 4:00 p.m. Pastor John Nelson of Vandament Avenue Baptist Church will officiate the services.
