John is survived by special friends, Patty Coleman, Ralph Miller, Jim and Angie Reed, and Isabelle Sutton; cousin, Ina Shy; nephew, Randy Sutton of Potosi, Missouri; sister-in-law, Bernice Sutton of Swedeborg, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle and Fred Sutton, wife, Goldie (Hickman) Sutton, one son, Steven Wayne Sutton, one brother, Willbern "Cotton" Sutton, and five sisters, Lena Adkins, Beulah Inman, Lilly Wood, Netta Hummel and Golda Alcorn.
"Leather" served his country by enlisting into the United States Army on November 24, 1943, during World War II. He received an honorable discharge on January 31, 1946. John loved spending time with children and going fishing. He enjoyed restoring old cars and tractors.
Visitation was held Thursday, January 4, 2007 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Friday, January 5, 2007 at the Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri.
A Funeral Service was held Friday, January 5, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Moore Memorial Chapel, Potosi, Missouri with Elder Leonard Compton officiating.
Final Prayers and Burial took place in the Hyatts Creek Cemetery, Lesterville, Missouri. Full Military Honors were given by the Missouri Funeral Honors Team. Serving as Pallbearers were Randy Sutton, Bill Bockenholt, Jim Reed, Andrew Hall, Jeff Hall and Jerry Harris.
Services were Entrusted to the Care and Direction of the Moore Funeral Homes, 105 Clark Street, Potosi, Missouri.
